Urus Cigs Review
Up until recently, I’d never even heard of Urus Cigs. But after seeing the brand mentioned on a forum, I visited their website and decided to give them a try. Their claim to fame is amazing flavor. The website says, “What sets us apart from the other electronic cigarettes are our phenomenal bold flavors. We made sure you get huge body of strong flavors every time you take a draw from our electronic cigarettes.” I decided to give them a shot.
You can get two starter kits from Urus Cigs. The basic kit is just $35 and includes a battery, 3 cartridges in tobacco or menthol, a USB charger, and a simple case. The premium kit is $45 and it includes a battery, 3 basic cartridges in tobacco or menthol, a 5-pack of flavored cartridges, the USB charger, wall adapter, and a basic case. Both kits are affordable and very similar in design.
When my kit arrived, I liked the packaging. The little case is about the size of a pack of 100’s so it would easily fit in your purse or pocket. Each of the cartridges were packaged with the little green leaf sticker to show they were unused. This isn’t my favorite method because in a retail setting, there is no way to really be sure they are new. I mean it’s not that hard to reapply a sticker. But since I bought it online, I figured it was okay. The battery is really stiff and hard. There is nothing reminiscent about analog cigarettes. It feels completely plastic and has a gray tip that lights red when you use it.
Here’s a quick tip for the first time you use your Urus Cig. There is a tiny sticker hidden on the battery that has to be removed before it will work. It took me about 10 minutes of complete frustration before I realized I had missed that little sticker. I was just about ready to give up on the Urus Cig working at all when I spotted it. So my first recommendation for this brand is to rethink all the little stickers. They are nothing but a headache.
It took a little priming, but once the Urus Cig started working the vapor was decent. It had a nice throat hit that was strong enough without being overpowering. Unfortunately, that is where my positive review ends. Now let me tell you what I thought was pretty awful about the Urus Cig… flavor.
Remember how they claimed to have “phenomenal, bold flavors”? Yeah, they are definitely bold but far from phenomenal. The first flavor I tried was the 18mg tobacco. It was way too sweet and just had this really strange aftertaste that I didn’t enjoy at all. I thought it might just be a fluke so I checked out the other flavors too. I tried the cherry flavor and it tasted a lot like cough syrup. It was very medicinal and almost chemical tasting. I only lasted for a few minutes with that one before I had to throw it away.
With two unpleasant flavors done, I had three that I still needed to try. I decided to try Apple Delight next thinking it would be much better. I am a sucker for a slice of apple pie so I had high hopes from the moment I ordered this flavor on the Urus Cigs website. Sadly, I was disappointed again. It tasted like apple coffee, to put it bluntly. It had this weird coffee taste intermingled that just didn’t belong. Picture dipping a green jolly rancher into a strong cup of Folgers and then licking it clean. That’s pretty much what this cartridge tasted like. Now if you love coffee and apples together you might enjoy it, but it just wasn’t for me.
The final two flavors I tried were coffee and menthol. The coffee flavor was pretty much like a cup of coffee so I guess if you like coffee, you might enjoy it. I don’t usually like coffee too much so I wasn’t a fan. The menthol flavor was the best of the bunch, but it was more peppermint than menthol so people who want an authentic menthol flavor would be disappointed.
Overall, Urus Cigs is a decent e-cig with good vapor and a nice throat hit. Unfortunately, this brand was a flavor fail. I was really surprised by how far off they were with their flavors considering how they brag that they are so amazing online. I think Urug Cigs has a lot of potential to be an amazing e-cig, but until they makeover their flavors, it won’t be on my list of e-cigs to use regularly.
