Blu Cigs Review
Blu Cigs is a brand that is rapidly gaining recognition across the country. With a highly aggressive advertising campaign, Blu has been promoting its unique line of ecigs through commercials, magazine ads, and even appearances on the big screen. If you are looking for a budget friendly ecig, Blu might be one of your top choices.
Since the first days when Blu hit the ecig scene, they have undergone multiple changes. Most notably, they have changed hands a few times with a buy out from Lorillard in 2013 followed by a buyout from UK-based Imperial in 2014. Along the way, the ecig design has had a few mild adjustments, but the most notable changes have revolved around the accessories and cartridge flavors.
Blu is well known for its sleek black design and blue LED tip. They also get a lot of rave reviews for the charging packs that are included with each starter kit. This is a unique feature that we don’t see from many ecig brands, but it’s definitely a big perk. The charging pack is basically a small hard carrying case that charges your batteries on the go. Simply charge up the pack by plugging it into an electrical outlet and then the pack will carry enough charge to give your ecig batteries a boost when they are running low. If you get frustrated with plugging in your e cig for frequent recharge sessions, this particular feature would really make Blu a great option!
While I really like the charging pack and have used it several times, there is a big drawback. The Blu batteries do not last indefinitely. In fact, you can only recharge a battery about six times and then you have to buy a new one. Even though the batteries have a shorter lifespan than some brands, I think the convenience of the charging pack makes it a good brand for when you are traveling. While it might not be the most economical choice as your go-to e-cig, it is still a decent option.
Now it’s time to talk about performance. I recently ordered a new Blu Premium Pack online to see how the brand had evolved since the last time I purchased a kit. The Premium Pack comes with the charging pack that has a social feature, which will light up and vibrate if another Blu social pack is within a close distance. It’s definitely a cool design! The kit also includes 2 batteries, 5 cartridges, a USB charger, and a wall charger.
The first thing I noticed about the Premium Pack is the size. It’s actually really small and could easily fit in your pocket. The pack is a little thinner than a regular pack of cigarettes. The batteries are also small and really lightweight. This is the smallest ecig I’ve ever used and it would definitely be a good transition design for new vapers.
I tried all of Blu’s flavors since they are now made by Johnson Creek. You can pick from Classic Tobacco, Magnificent Menthol, Vivid Vanilla, Java Jolt, Peach Schnapps, Cherry Crush, and Pina Colada. Each flavor is available in varied nicotine strengths ranging from 0 to 16 mg. The overall performance is heavily influenced by the flavor you choose. In fact, I was pretty shocked at the difference when I switched out between various flavor cartridges.
In terms of taste, some of the flavors are great and some of them are a little less appealing. The tobacco flavor is a little mild, but it provided the best vapor. I absolutely loved the Cherry Crush cartridge flavor, but the vapor was pretty wispy and not quite as thick as I wanted. The Java Jolt was another flavor that I enjoyed and it actually had pretty decent vapor. On the other hand, I really didn’t like the Menthol flavor at all. It was too mild and didn’t have the mint kick that you would expect. Plus the vapor was almost nonexistent when I tried the menthol cartridges. There is definitely some room for improvement on that flavor.
Overall, Blu is a decent ecig with a promising future. They have some really awesome features and the charging packs give you a huge edge in terms of convenience. If they could just ramp up the throat hit and give a bit more vapor production, I would be even more excited about this brand. All things considered, I think Blu is definitely worth a try.
